Keeping a flexible mindset

One of the key principles of Leadership is keeping a flexible mindset.

But it's really hard to do this when all you can see is problems.

I remember coming across this on a number of occasions and particularly when I was asked for part time working from team members when my initial reaction was that this would only cause problems.
How would this impact other members of the team?
How would we manage their work when they weren't around?

But I got over these concerns and the impact was only positive.
Research tells us part time team members are more engaged, more loyal and even - more productive! And I can tell you first hand that this is exactly what I saw, in fact one of the original part time team members I hired was one of the best hires I ever made, despite my concerns about hiring someone on part time hours into what I considered to be a full time role.
